Maya Tohme graduated from ALBA in 1987 with a “Diplome d’etudes superieurs en Arts Plastiques” and from the Lebanese University with a “License d’Archeologie” in 1997 and currently is an art teacher at University of the Holy Spirit-Kaslik (USEK).

She believes that we exist in a multidimensional universe where everything is interconnected. The dominant theme in her art usually focuses on connection, on man’s relationship with his sacredness and with his link to the Divine and to nature.

Faces and the human figure are predominant in her work.

‘I frequently work with the canvas or paper on the ground, which makes me feel that I am inside the painting, and which allows for techniques difficult to execute on an easel. I work on canvas but I also love working on paper because it allows more freedom of expression and more immediate results.”
